Yes, they can. People can arrange to see you before you go to the operating room if you desire. The surgeon will come to the surgical waiting room immediately after your operation is completed to talk to family and friends who are waiting there. Then your friend s will be directed to your hospital room where they can continue to wait for you to arrive there. You will still be "groggy" when you arrive in your hospital room and will not be able to interact with anyone very well.
