The stomach pouch probably stretches a little as time goes on, but never to any great degree. Weight loss is usually maintained except in those few patients who persist in taking large quantities of high calorie food or fluids. It is possible to stretch the small outlet to your new stomach by persistently over eating or by not chewing your food well enough. Remember this is not a "cure-all" operation. The surgery will do a great deal towards the goal of weight loss, but ONLY YOU can make it work long term. |
