Yes, if the need should ever arise, the two parts of the stomach can be
joined together again but it involves another operation. Once the gastric
bypass is reversed, you may regain the weight you have lost. We do not
ever expect to reverse the operation unless some new medical problem
develops where the remaining stomach might need to be used (i.e.
during an operation to remove cancer or to help repair injuries after an
automobile accident).
